On Wednesday, June 19, The Gardens at Heather Farm is partnering with the Garden Conservancy to bring a very special program as part of GC’s “Digging Deeper” series. GROUND STUDIO founder, Bernard Trainor will lead an inspirational and educational presentation tracing his analysis and design process— highlighting a few favorite plants and water-wise strategies—using projects featured in his newly released monograph, Bernard Trainor: Ground Studio Landscape (Princeton Architectural Press, May 2019).

GROUND STUDIO’s award-winning design work celebrates the elemental nature of California, where the Pacific Ocean converges with coastal mountains. This twisting, folding landscape presents a myriad of climatic, topographical, and geological variations, from the craggy coasts of Big Sur to the fertile hills of Sonoma wine country. Founder Bernard Trainor views rural projects as an opportunity to explore simplicity in harmony with the pure, wild, and historic, while in urban projects, he seeks to create meaningful private spaces that provide sanctuary from everyday chaos.
