Established in 1972 as a non-profit volunteer organization, The Gardens serves as a sanctuary in the heart of Walnut Creek, CA. With over 6.5 acres of lush gardens and a renowned Rose Garden, The Gardens remains dedicated to remaining free and open to the public 7 days a week. After 50 years of business, The Gardens continues to focus on education, horticulture, and weddings while honoring the nonprofit mission. We look forward to continuing to see our loyal patrons and volunteers as well as welcoming new visitors.

Youth Education

Our Youth Education programs offer virtual and in-person classes for children in preschool and elementary grades. Learn about wildlife habitats, geology, plant anatomy, water conservation, environmental stewardship, and more.

Plant Shop

We grow and sell plants year-round in our on-site nursery facilities! From organic seasonal vegetables to unique perennials to water-wise options like salvias and succulents, we’ve got a wide and ever-changing selection of plants perfect for your garden.

Private Events

Engaged couples LOVE our venue! It’s the perfect combination of naturally inspiring indoor and outdoor spaces that makes for a truly unforgettable wedding day. Both affordable and flexible, our venue is also a great choice for parties, memorials, and business events.

Visit The Gardens

If you haven’t seen our Rose Garden in prime blooming season, you are in for a real treat! Our 6.5 acre property offers many more beautiful garden areas, including a Children’s Garden, Shade Garden, Rock and Salvia Garden, Waterfall Garden and more. No matter the season, it’s a fun and engaging place to visit!

Our Youth Education programs are made possible in part by charitable contributions including individual gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Donations help us pursue our mission to educate the community about our natural world.

Membership

Members enjoy an array of benefits such as discounts on plant purchases from our nursery and other local retailers, and free or discounted admission to hundreds of public gardens in North America, while helping our gardens to thrive.

Volunteer

Our nonprofit employs a small team of staff to get much of the daily business done, and volunteers fill the gaps. Volunteer support is crucial to key areas such as garden maintenance, propagation, and fundraising events. It’s also a healthy and fun way to spend time!
