The Gardens at Heather Farm is an independent nonprofit operating a free public garden, education center and special event venue nestled on a picturesque hillside in Walnut Creek, CA.
Here at The Gardens, we believe that the right lesson can impact a life forever. We believe that the right venue can make for a simply unforgettable event. We believe that the right afternoon outing can create a lasting family memory. And, we believe we are the right place for all of it to happen.
Why? Because those moments are, and have always been our purpose. Our mission is to enrich the community through the beauty and environmental stewardship of our gardens, provides educational programs for adults and children, and offers venues for social and cultural events. Simply put, we’re here for you and your family, wherever life takes you.
No matter if you visit us with your kiddo to dive into all things butterflies, with your friends for an Instagram worthy wedding or event, or on your own to learn all about creating a beautiful and sustainable garden that your neighbors will be jealous of, you’ll be taking part in almost five decades of community enrichment and support.
The vision of a family focused and educational garden started in 1968 when founders recognized not only the beauty of the rolling hillside in Walnut Creek’s Ygnacio Valley, but also a need in the community to bring focus back to nature and make it accessible to all. The Gardens today reflect the unified efforts of those who have (and still are) investing their time, talents, and financial resources to make this community all it can be.
But, don’t just take our word for it! Our guests love to tell us all about their visit…
