In partnership with the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, The Gardens at Heather Farm will be scheduling all in classroom programs. Central San’s programs are provided free of charge for teachers in our sewer service area.  The goal is to help students think more critically about “what happens to our dirty water after it goes down the drain?”  Each of our programs are built upon relevant NGSS earth science, biological science, and physical science curriculum.

Pipe Protectors

Our TK-5th grade programs feature 3 different hands-on lessons: Toilet and Non-Toilet Paper, What Goes Down The Kitchen Sink, and Toot the Toilet.  Our programs are 1 hour long and are designed for 1 class at a time.  Please book a program for all students within a grade level and at least 2 programs per day are required.

Next Gen Sewer Science

Our 6th-12th grade programs feature 3 labs: Filter LabBugs Lab, and Mystery Solutions. Our labs are designed to fit into a single block period. Alternatively, labs can be split across two days and two ~50-minute classroom periods. Your school’s schedule will determine which fit is best for you. Some teachers choose to book two different labs in the same week to have an experience similar to the old Sewer Science Program.
