Get out into nature! Visit The Gardens at Heather Farm, a local gem nestled on a picturesque hillside just over two miles from downtown Walnut Creek. The Gardens at Heather Farm is an independent nonprofit operating a free public garden and nature education center with six acres of natural landscape to explore.
UPDATE FOR COVID-19: The Gardens at Heather Farm is committed to helping stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community. During the revised Contra Costa County shelter in place order in effect until June 1, outdoor public garden areas are open for visiting from sunrise to sunset. Visitors should practice safe physical distancing and wear face coverings as recommended by the County Health Department. No picnics, group gatherings, organized activities or events. The building and offices are closed until at least June 1.
With dozens of paved and gravel pathways, a rose-covered gazebo, waterfall area, conservation garden, children’s garden and a variety of seasonal displays, your visit to The Gardens will be both inspiring and educational.
Drop by for an afternoon stroll and take in the lovely fragrances and gorgeous views. Check out our scannable PlantsMap tags and learn more about our garden’s plants. Bring a blanket and spread out with the family for lunch on our grassy Meadow Lawn.
